The History of the Joymasters
The Joymasters began their music ministry in 1968, with Bob Bailey singing
bass, Ardelle Bailey singing alto and playing piano, Bobbie Forrester singing lead
and Jerry Forrester singing baritone. Bob and Ardelle's son, Mike, played bass
guitar. They believed they were doing what God called them to do.

The group had been traveling in a Chevy van but was out growing it. In 1970,
after much prayer it was decided to purchase a bus. In April of the same year the
group recorded their first album, "Sweeter Gets the Journey", and would spend the
next seven years ministering to churches, revivals, brush arbors, tabernacles and
to any other venue the Lord led them. Their desire was to always be a blessing
and share the message of God's love to a lost and dying world.

By October 1977, the group disbanded as a mixed group and reorganized
as an all male quartet. The new Joymasters were Billy Manous, Jerry Forrester,
Barry Forrester, Matt Burgess, Mike Bailey, and Billy Forrester.

Success continued to follow the new group as their song, "Don't Knock", was
charted in the Singing News. They also had exceptional airplay with
"When He Wrote My Name", reaching #16 at a North Carolina radio station.

Today the group consists of original member Jerry Forrester as manager/owner,
and sound man, Billy Forrester, Tim Jennings, Jeff Vinson, Eric McVey,
Mike Bailey, Adam Dodd, David Forrester, and Vell Young.

Many recordings, members, and buses later, The Joymasters continue to
minister with the same commitment with which they were organized. One year even
witnessing more than fifty salvation experiences. The group travels extensively in
Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, and Kentucky. It is not unusual to see
people at the altar when The Joymasters sing. God continues to give them souls for
their labor. The fellowship among these men is much like family, often praying with
and for each other. Don't be surprised to hear them urging each other on with an
"Amen" or "Sing it brother".

It is our desire that you pray for us as we continue our journey wherever the
Lord leads and that people will be touched as we move into the years ahead. May we
always be found in the center of His will, Singing Until He Comes.

                                                                                                                  The Joymasters
